BSFF Professional Training Course Information

BSFF Foundation Training for Professionals

Graduates of this training will be able to:

  1. Describe the Be Set Free Fast method succinctly in laymens or professional terms (as appropriate) to prospective clients, colleagues, supervisors, and licensing reviewers

  2. Educate clients regarding the concepts, principles, and terminology contained in the method

  3. Teach the method’s general procedure to clients

  4. List the features involved in scoping the client’s problem in preparation for BSFF intervention

  5. Guide clients through the general procedure from start to closing in a single session

  6. Facilitate clients’ processing the effects of the intervention at every stage

  7. Teach clients the self-help version of the method for practicing between and for post-therapy personal emotional and psychological hygiene

  8. BSFF Foundation CE trainings are designed with the following target audiences in mind:

    1. Foundation Training for Professionals – Introductory training in the professional application of BSFF by doctoral and other postgraduate-level clinicians (Prerequisite: Introduction to Be Set Free Fast eCourse)

  9. Schedule: Six weekly three-hour meetings on zoom to review homework practice and interim learning from recorded presentations, receive didactic instruction, participate in group exercises, participate in supervised breakout room practice sessions, debrief and identify LOs addressed to date.

  10. Prerequisite: Introduction to Be Set Free Fast eCourse or equivalent training or experience

  11. Cost: Foundation Training: $497 (+$197 for prerequisite Introductory eCourse)

  12. Instructor: Alfred B. Heath is a Virginia-licensed Professional Counselor (license # 0701003179) with over 30 years of experience providing professional mental health, substance abuse, and disability counseling. He holds a Master of Arts, Psychological Services degree (Concentration: Counseling) from Marymount University, Arlington Virginia. He has served in roles as a Career Counselor (United States Air Force), Residential Counselor for Adults with Disabilities (City of Alexandria, VA), Outpatient Mental Health Therapist (Loudoun County Mental Health Services), Senior Substance Abuse Therapist (Prince William County Community Services Board), and currently runs a part-time private psychotherapy practice and a BSFF-based training, consultation and coaching business.  Alfred Heath has been practicing Be Set Free Fast professionally since 2004 and was designated a BSFF Trainer by the method’s  creator Dr. Larry Nims in 2009. In addition to his own training events, Mr. Heath was selected by Dr. Nims to be his only co-trainer for the 10 years prior to his retirement. In 2015, Dr. Nims designated Alfred Heath master trainer of Be Set Free Fast, at which point Mr. Heath founded the Be Set Free Fast Education and Training Academy, LLC to develop and refine training curricula and practice standards for professionals. Mr. Heath is currently the only master trainer of BSFF worldwide.

BSFF Intermediate Training for Clinicians

Educational objectives:

BSFF Intermediate Training for Clinicians – Graduates of this training will be able to:

  1. Characterize their scope of practice with regard to applying BSFF in professional settings.  

  2. Describe situations in which applying BSFF methodology may be contraindicated within their scope of practice

  3. Describe how to tailor the general BSFF procedure to categories of mental health diagnoses: adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, panic, anger, bereavement, post-traumatic stress

  4. List the features of a well-defined outcome elicited from the client to facilitate progress to supplement the problem-resolution perspective during a BSFF session.  

  5. Describe how to tailor BSFF intervention to address each state of autonomic dysregulation

  6. Describe and demonstrate how to appropriately document BSFF therapy in clinical notes.   

 

  1. This BSFF CE training is designed with the following target audiences in mind:

Intermediate Training for Clinicians – Intermediate training for doctoral and other postgraduate clinicians who have demonstrated competency in the applying the method professionally (prerequisite: Foundation Training). Focused on tailoring the methodology to  specific client populations

  1. Schedule:

Intermediate Training – Six weekly 2-hour zoom meetings with didactic instruction, demonstrations, group exercises, Q&A, and review of learning objectives covered

Cost: $397 (Refund/cancellation policy: Once registered, participants may cancel up to 1 week prior to training and receive a full refund. Cancellation after the 1st session will result in a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after attendance or no-show at the 2nd session. BSFF Advanced Training for Practitioners

Educational objectives:

BSFF Advanced Training for Practitioners – Graduates of this training will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate employing the OmniSentience awareness process to enhance and maintain a supportive therapeutic Presence during sessions

  2. List 7 observable indicators of emotional or cognitive processing

  3. List the phases of the PICBT framework

  4. List the psychotherapy method(s) or approach(es) each phase is drawn from

  5. Demonstrate elicitation of a well-defined outcome to facilitate and transcend problem resolution

  6. Demonstrate guiding a client through applying the BSFF procedure using the PICBT framework

  7. Describe two positive psychology techniques to facilitate enhancement and stabilization of positive emotions and states of mind

  8. Describe the purpose and steps of the Micro-exposure Technique

  9. Describe the purpose and steps of the Mandala/Mandorla Imagery Technique

  10. Describe the steps for using BSFF with Karpman’s Drama Triangle

  11. List the main elements of the advanced form of CBT –Schema Therapy--  recommended for applying BSFF to attachment issues.

    1. Advanced Training for Practitioners – Advanced Training for doctoral and other postgraduate clinicians who have demonstrated competency in applying the method professionally (prerequisite: Foundation Training). Focused on enhancing the general BSFF procedure with a supporting integrative framework and advanced techniques and supplementary interventions for specific situations

OmniSentience Therapeutic Presence Training

  1. The following information will be provided for consideration in deciding whether to enroll in current BSFFETA-curricula CE programs:

Educational objectives:

OmniSentience Therapeutic Presence Training – Graduates of this training will be able to utilize the OmniSentience Presence Cueing process to:

  1. Establish and maintain therapeutic presence with a client during extended periods of silence

  2. Establish and maintain therapeutic presence in silence while a client is processing a BSFF intervention

  3. Reestablish therapeutic presence after distraction

  4. Restore and maintain therapeutic presence after an emotional reaction has been triggered

  5. Maintain therapeutic presence when unsure what to say next   

  6. Maintain therapeutic presence while meeting client’s emotional energy

  7. Practice establishing/maintaining/restoring/reestablishing therapeutic presence during conversation with client in session

  8. Carry out all of the other functions of psychotherapist while establishing/maintaining/restoring/reestablishing therapeutic presence throughout the session 

 

  1. BSFF CE trainings are designed with the following target audiences in mind:

    1. OmniSentience Therapeutic Presence Training – Intermediate training for doctoral and other postgraduate clinicians who have demonstrated competency in applying the method professionally (prerequisite: Foundation Training). Focused on optimizing therapeutic presence during BSFF sessions

  2. Schedule;

    1. OmniSentience Therapeutic Presence Training – Two four-hour meetings a week apart on zoom for Q&A; group, dyad, and triad practica, debrief, and review of Los addressed to date.

 

  1. Cost: $197 (Refund/cancellation policy: Once registered, participants may cancel up to 1 week prior to training and receive a full refund.
